5 Simple Statements to Help You Through a Bad Day

Ever just had a bad day to the point where it seemed like there was nothing you could do to get out of that funk? Of course you have, you are a human. All of us have days like this. It’s only human. It’s part of our existence. It’s part of our lifelong learning. Without some bad days you cannot fully appreciate the good days to the same degree.

The night is always darkest before the dawn.

When you are at that sad, depressed, miserable, dejected place and you feel like you can’t shake it, reassure yourself with these positive reminders to give you that motivation to keep going headstrong through the day.

  1. “I can do this.”

During a bad day, how many times do you talk yourself out of doing something because you felt unable or inadequate? I’m assuming it’s probably too many to count. Next time you hear that little voice in your head yelling to you that you don’t have enough to make it, to do it, or to just be happy, challenge it with some positive affirmations. Repeat these affirmations over and over again until you finally believe them. Think about it, you probably didn’t start feeling so bad from only one negative thought right? The same thing counts for feeling good and happy.

The only person who can stop you from doing something or being happy is you. You have the choice to empower yourself or tear yourself down. What are you going to choose? Repeat affirmations like this one and you will quickly go from unmotivated and drained to excited and confident.

  1. “I am enough.”

After reminding yourself that you can accomplish your goals, remind yourself that you have everything you need within yourself to do so. Believe in yourself. Other people’s negative opinions of you really don’t matter when you believe in yourself. If someone else is trying to help you by offering constructive criticism, that’s a different story, but if they are intentionally trying to bring you down through negativity, don’t let them. Everywhere you go there will be someone who will want to pass judgment upon you, but that doesn’t mean you have to believe what everyone else says about you.

Have confidence in yourself and remember that you came here as a complete, limitless spiritual being. You came into existence with all the tools you will ever need. You just need to realize these tools, and this starts by believing in yourself. Who you are at this very moment in time is more than enough. Do not fear that you are not good enough, because you are.

  1. “Everything is happening as it is supposed to.”

In our modern world of technology, computers, smartphones, texting, Facebooking, Snapchatting, tablets, and all the other tools that we use on a daily basis, impatience runs rampant. The idea of instant gratification is heavily ingrained into people at a young age and is quite common nowadays. We don’t want to wait for food to be cooked so instead we get fast food, we hate waiting in line, we want faster cars, quicker downloads, and instant access.

Don’t forget though that the best things in life really do take time. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Challenges are just a brick on our path to self-actualization and happiness. You may not realize it in the moment, but every challenge you face on your path is necessary for you to grow as a person. You can’t have success without failure.

  1. “This too shall pass.”

As with nearly everything else that is in this world, anxiety, depression, stress, and bad days always come and go. When you’re feeling an enormous amount of anxiety or stress and you feel like you’re out of control or going crazy or as if you’re going to explode and that this will never end, just thinking the phrase “This too shall pass” can really help. Uncertainty is without a doubt the most powerful and common antecedent to anxiety, depression, and crappy days. When we feel as if we are not in control of ourselves and our destiny, we are almost assuredly going to experience some varying degree of a crappy day.

However, once you realize that it won’t last forever, well, it begins to go away.

No matter what life throws at you, put on your game face and don’t let the situation get the best of you. Nothing can defeat you unless you allow it. Keep moving. Things pass, but if you want to stay in hell, then take a seat and pull up some popcorn. However, if you want to move out of that depressed sad place, then get moving, don’t give up, and believe that you will move past this a better you. So just tell the world that you don’t plan on giving up anytime soon. This one is connected with the “I am enough.” If you believe you are enough then why would you give up on something you want?

Never forget that no one can stop you as long as you are determined to see it through. Even if you feel unsure of what direction to go in, just take that first step, believe in yourself, believe in the universe, have patience, and just watch everything fall into place for you just like you imagined it.
