These words were inscribed above the entrance to the temple of Apollo a Delphi, site of the sacred Oracle in ancient Greece. People would visit the Oracle hoping to find out what destiny has in store for them or what course of action to take in a particular situation. The translation comes to mean “Know Thyself” in other words, before you ask yourself any other questions, first ask the most fundamental question of life: Who am I? That is the question that should precede any question or concern about what destiny has in store for you or what course of action to take in a particular situation. Take influence from this ancient teaching.
