The evil eye is a belief that a particular person may cast a malicious gaze which will cause another person, animal, plant, or other property to become ill, die, suffer grievous harm, or inflict bad luck upon someone toward whom they are either openly or even unknowingly envious towards. The evil eye belief is extremely ancient having been referenced as early as 3000 B.C. with the Sumerians, then on to Babylon, then in 7th Century B.C. Acadian and Assyrian literature, in ancient Greek and Roman writings, and finally in the Hebrew Bible and in more modern Judeo-Christian culture and traditions. The historian and biographer Plutarch, described in his De Iside how the Egyptian goddess of nature Isis killed the son of the Byblos by a mere glance of her eye. Everyone keeps talking about being happy like its so easy right? Especially those people who are happy! They just look so happy and easy going. They talk about being happy like it is such an easy thing, but that’s because they are happy already right! I bet they have some sort of magic or something right?! Its so easy for them! Do what makes you happy! In work, vacation, downtime, life decisions, social time, and everything else! You are the expert of your own life. As much as I love the work of counsellors, social workers, and psychologists, none of them can make you happy and give you the answers. As long as they are good at what they do, they are there to help you find that motivation and confidence inside of you to find your own happiness, peace, direction, and inspiration.
Just because some people like to identify themselves as realistic, that does not mean that realism equates to negativity. Some people like to confuse a realistic view on their lives, especially when things aren’t going well for them, with a negative and pessimistic view on life. It’s true, there are negative things that happen in life. However, positive people do not ignore the negativity that may be out there. They make the conscious decision to choose positivity over negativity in the hopes that this effort will make a change for the better. Your view on life is up to you. Make it negative. Or make it positive. Both are realistic as long as you believe it. Life is all about perception and belief.
“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
Everything is temporary. Thoughts, emotions, people, scenery. Do not become attached. Just flow with it.

I love my website and posting on here, but the reason things have slowed down this summer is because the Greek Guru guy was on vacation in…Greece! What a surprise right? He’s Greek and he’s on vacation in Greece. 🙂 Continue reading
