Breathing is a powerful contributing factor of our physical state. When we are stressed, we often take short shallow breaths where our shoulders rise and fall. Our chest may feel like a weight is bearing down on it making it difficult to breathe. When our body becomes restricted like this our thoughts and actions are affected too. Our concentration and focus become clouded and we are often quick to react, which then later results in regret or recourse. Continue reading
“People tend to dwell more on negative things than on good things. So the mind becomes obsessed with negative things, with judgments, guilt and anxiety produced by thoughts about the future and so on.”

1.) Exercise without music.
Exercising with headphones is supposed to keep you motivated and positive about your workout correct? While I definitely do not disagree with this, I do think that it takes away from training yourself to be more in the present moment. Nobody disagrees that being mindful and in the present moment helps release stress, reduces anxiety, and also reduces depression, however, many people still struggle to see all the little tiny ways in which we are purposefully not being mindful.
What do I say… how do I start this… well, life can throw you some curve balls sometimes. It’s an interesting process when you put your whole life into something, and then it’s gone. It can be anything. It can be a career, a relationship, a loved one dies, a hobby, some other life goal, and just about anything that you can put your everything into and focus on for more parts of a day than not. Something that you start to identify with. When someone asks you “Who are you?”, you’ll respond with this thing that you’ve put everything into. Then if you take this thing away from your life, from your everyday process, from basically part of your identity… it’s scary. It’s a major life change whether you know it or not. Continue reading
People were created to work together and love each other. To help each other. To care for each other. Things were created to be used. The problem I see in the world is that things are being loved and cared for, while people are being used and abused. Continue reading
In my experiences I have come across many a person that seems to apologize for even the slightest thing that goes wrong in a day. This type of individual is usually someone who works for someone else (non-independent type job), is some sort of paid or unpaid intern/extern, or is a student. These types of people tell their significant other, their boss, the cashier at Walgreens, a driver who cut them off, their friend(s), their pets even that they are sorry for the slightest things. YES, if someone does not work out in the ideal way that you had it pictured in your mind, then we have a slight instance of what I call the “oh shit” feeling. Continue reading
Guided Imagery Meditation Script
Start by taking a few deep breaths…. slowly…. and evenly…..remembering to let your belly rise as you breathe in…. and to let it fall as you breathe out
Remember to breathe deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth…
Now return to your normal breathing, don’t try to change it, but keep breathing in and out, focusing on how your body feels at this moment. Feel the pace of your body becoming slower.
Do what makes you happy! In work, vacation, downtime, life decisions, social time, and everything else! You are the expert of your own life. As much as I love the work of counsellors, social workers, and psychologists, none of them can make you happy and give you the answers. As long as they are good at what they do, they are there to help you find that motivation and confidence inside of you to find your own happiness, peace, direction, and inspiration.
Just because some people like to identify themselves as realistic, that does not mean that realism equates to negativity. Some people like to confuse a realistic view on their lives, especially when things aren’t going well for them, with a negative and pessimistic view on life. It’s true, there are negative things that happen in life. However, positive people do not ignore the negativity that may be out there. They make the conscious decision to choose positivity over negativity in the hopes that this effort will make a change for the better. Your view on life is up to you. Make it negative. Or make it positive. Both are realistic as long as you believe it. Life is all about perception and belief.
“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
Inspiration is the being “in spirit” with whichever higher power you believe in. That could be God, source, energy, yourself, nature. Anything. Inspiration only comes when you allow yourself to be in spirit. Spiritual guru and medical doctor Deepak Chopra likes to say that praying is you talking to your higher power. Continue reading
